Kate Storey

Kate Storey has more than 10 years of experience in traditional public relations outreach and social media program development and management, specializing in both B2C and B2B communications. Prior to joining the Markit Strategies & PR team, Storey was social media manager at The Henry Ford, a National Historic Landmark in Dearborn, Mich., that welcomes 1.5 million visitors each year. In this role, she was responsible for launching the institution’s social media program and provided strategic direction for all social media initiatives, including The Henry Ford’s Facebook fan page, Twitter account, YouTube channel and Flickr account. Storey was also responsible for leading the re-design and regular content creation of their blog, as well as developing and maintaining relationships with local, regional and national bloggers and other social media influentials.

While at The Henry Ford, Storey also served as the national media and film relations manager, facilitating coverage with on-site national and international print and broadcast media crews and securing proactive placements in key travel and lifestyle media outlets including USA Today, Woman’s Day, CNN, Home Magazine and Midwest Living. She also developed the content and managed the design and production process of print and digital media kits for several major traveling exhibits hosted by Henry Ford Museum.

Earlier in her career, Storey served as a senior account executive at Airfoil Public Relations. In that role, she led regional media relations activities for Microsoft Corporation’s community affairs program, serving as a liaison between Microsoft and nonprofit grant recipients and developing and executing media outreach strategies for 14 metro markets. She also provided strategic account support for a Metro Detroit healthcare IT services provider, developing media materials and pitching key industry media publications.

Storey earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in public relations and communications from Eastern Michigan University.
